CoFlora brings together the care for nature and innovative design and art.
CoFlora came into life as a result of personal passion for sustainable living. After accomplishing studies in Environmental science, then working with private and public institutions, young me embarked on a journey of travels and discoveries in different corners of the world. Some years later, during my life in Portugal I encountered a supermaterial that instantly fell for, and in which I saw a simple yet effective solution to numerous environmental and social issues - CORK!
If one thinks of the best way to invite global population to cooperate with Flora(hence the name CoFlora!) and Fauna without long time delays as with education and regulations, without complex restructuring of existing processes and with no need to fight/lobby/prove - the answer would be offering a practical solution, that is easy to include it into lifestyle.
At first glance cork was impressive with its great characteristics, but further in the process of working with it, it reveals even more potential uses and applications.
As someone who loves art and fashion, I got very excited, seeing how cork leather can help avoid Animal Leather industry issues. It is pleasant to work with and does not require any specific machinery or tools, nothing different from normal leather/fabrics. In how many wonderful ways it could be used!
Likewise, I couldn’t stop thinking of all the creative ways to apply cork in interior design and architecture. Having worked in Green Buildings consultancy, I know how detrimental buildings are for the environment (contributing to 40% of annual global CO2 emission). Here came the idea of cork panels and spray. Both of these could be transformed to match the functionality and esthetics of any space, and with a wide range of designs and colors - the sky is the limit!

Now however I would like to emphasize how CoFlora brought together all aspects of my life personally and probably for others too. It is a beautiful combination of creativity, practical solutions for the building sector, events, design and fashion, educational example of sustainability and circularity to others, a positive cooperation with nature, and last but not least, a great legacy for the future generations. As a mother I wish that next generations live and function in healthy environments but also avoid harming nature and the global ecosystem.

A Love and respect for nature along with professional knowledge and experience has lead to this idea of substituting wood, metal, leather and other common materials with an environmentally friendly option.
Cork is an undervalued treasure-supermaterial,that can be used in a variety of different ways due to its versatile traits. Its characteristics allow a wide range of applications form music studios to hotels, conference rooms, children venues, homes, public spaces etc.
